Youth & Junior Athlete Instructions

  • Renew your membership now. To ensure that your athletes have a smooth and delay-free registration process, please have them renew their USAT membership BEFORE they attempt to register for any of the YE/JE Cups. I recommend doing this at least one week ahead to ensure that any database updates that could impact the registration process are done.
  • Please review the Competition Rules, uniform rules, Safe Sport and USADA on page 10-11.
  • Please follow @USATJuniors on Twitter as this is used for quick updates to the masses and also for Live Updates during races.
Junior Elite Cup Youth Elite Cup

TriMonroe is proud to host one of only four national-level Youth Elite and Junior Elite draft-legal racing opportunities in the United States.

Series Description
The USAT Junior and Youth Elite Series are the premiere triathlon race series for athletes 13 to 19 year olds in the United States.  Consisting of four national-caliber competitions each spring and summer, the series prepares athletes for draft-legal competition and qualification to US teams competing at international championships.  Each event has two competition categories – a Youth Elite Cup and a Junior Elite Cup – in which athletes are grouped by age and gender.  Courses are designed to mimic Olympic style racing, with multiple laps and high speed transitions, making races exciting to watch for families, friends, and teammates.

Race Description
The USAT TriMonroe Youth Elite and Junior Elite Cup is the northwestern US event in the USAT Junior Elite Series, a national-caliber competition for teenage triathletes.  The event is draft-legal and serves as one of five qualifiers for the USAT Junior Elite Series Guide.

Field Limits
The maximum number of athletes per gender division is 75 athletes.  Each event can accommodate 300 athletes total. Once a category is filled, a wait list will be kept until June 22nd with a first come first serve format.

Qualification for the National Championship
Finish in the Top 17 among Junior Elites and Top 17 among Youth Elites will qualify for spot in the 2017 National Championships.  Spots will roll down past athletes who have already qualified and athletes representing other national federations.  Athletes may participate in any or all four qualifiers, regardless of residence.

Rules/Officiating
The USAT Junior and Youth Elite Series is officiated using international-standard draft-legal rules published by the International Triathlon Union by officiating teams selected by USA Triathlon.
